Rapid Response
At The Food Group, we recognize the important and valuable role immigrants play throughout our food system and community. From growing, harvesting, processing, and distributing culturally connected and local food; their leadership, labor, planning, and investment are critical. We see everyday food disparities across race. As communities of color are being targeted, we must continue to speak out against racial injustice and stand with our immigrant communities to build a better food system and brighter future. At The Food Group we believe food is a basic right for everyone and we are committed to food equity. Violence and fear should never be used against anyone in our community and we stand against hate.
Increased ICE presence in Minnesota has been negatively impacting equitable food access. Food shelves are seeing dramatic declines in visits from many communities of color.
The Food Group is rapidly responding to ensure fear is not a barrier for communities to access food right now. In partnership with food shelves and trusted grassroots community led partners, we are identifying new distribution methods and partnerships to ensure food is safely and effectively getting to immigrant communities as they are being targeted.
Please join us and give today to provide culturally connected foods to families who need it most right now.
