food access

A Note from Sophia

Food shelf visits in our state are still at record highs. At the height of the pandemic, it was easy to understand how more people in our community were experiencing hunger than ever before. Together, we are ensuring that everyone can gather with family and eat food that provides comfort and nourishment.

Impacts of Grocery Market Redlining in the Twin Cities

Access to fresh food and affordable grocery is a challenge for many in urban neighborhoods across the US. In the Twin Cities alone, 12.5% of residents live in food insecure areas.

Going Deeper with Community Engagement

Community members shared ideas to build a more equitable food system together. We are centering community voices by putting community solutions into action.

Valley Outreach

Let’s Make it Better. Together.

Food shelf visits this spring are looking very different. . . Just a few weeks ago, Valley Outreach food shelf served nearly 1000 families in one week, more than double their previous pandemic era average of 350 families each week.

Coming Together in North Minneapolis
