Invest in the future of organic agriculture. Join our CSA!

Joining a CSA is one of the easiest ways you can participate in the exciting transformation taking place in our local food system. Like all Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farms, we offer members a share of our harvest in exchange for pre-season support.

Check out our share options here. Contact Eric at [email protected] or 651-433-3676 if you have any questions.

Big River Farms is a certified organic vegetable farm located in Marine on St. Croix, Minnesota. We have many unique features that set it apart from other CSAs in the Twin Cities:

• We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Big River Farms is operated by the nonprofit Minnesota Food Association (MFA) to provide a guaranteed market for the farmers we support, and to generate funds needed to train future farmers. Minnesota Food Association’s mission is to build a more sustainable food system based on social, economic and environmental justice through education, training and partnerships.

• Our produce is Certified Organic. We follow the national standards set by the USDA for organic production, and are monitored by a third-party certifier. This guarantees to our customers that we’re using best practices for the health of the environment, our farmers and the people who eat our produce.

• Your CSA membership supports multiple farmers. Big River Farms is a local food hub: we share our resources to help small-scale farmers succeed in ways they wouldn’t be able to on their own. By growing for Big River Farms, farmers gain access to land, infrastructure, training, marketing and distribution channels while growing their own farm business.

• The farmers come from highly diverse backgrounds. MFA focuses on farmers from socially-disadvantaged backgrounds, including many immigrants and refugees. On any given day, you’ll meet farmers from 10 different countries while walking through our fields!

We Value Nutritious Food
Working with our community partners, The Food Group buys, gleans, grows, and processes fresh produce.

Food Bank
or Food Shelf?
The Food Group is a food bank that supplies other hunger relief agencies with fresh produce, frozen meat, grocery staples, and other household necessities. Food shelves distribute free food to individuals and families in their local communities.

The Food Group believes in food equity. They believe in culturally specific foods. They believe in meeting people where they are at. And most of all, they believe in dignity.
