Moshky Farm’s weekly CSA share

Our CSA program is one of many services and offerings here at Big River Farms. Farmers in our education program can opt into growing and selling their organic produce directly to you through our cooperative CSA model. In addition to the BRF CSA, farmers here develop and operate other independent markets too, including their own CSAs, farmers market sales, wholesale produce partnerships, and more. A portion of your CSA membership fees goes directly toward supporting these emerging farmers and local food enterprises.

Heather Drake and Marisa Benasutti of Moshky Farm & Gardens, one of the farm teams your CSA membership supports, are redefining who comes to mind when we think about farmers.

“The way farmers and farming has looked is changing drastically and I hope we, along with other marginalized communities, start to fit the model of what farmers look like in the future,” says Heather. “The appeal of small organic farming is that it has been a more open and accepting space for us to be in and to feel like we have a place.”

We sat down with Moshky Farm over the winter to hear their story. Read the full blog post here.

We Value Nutritious Food
Working with our community partners, The Food Group buys, gleans, grows, and processes fresh produce.

Food Bank
or Food Shelf?
The Food Group is a food bank that supplies other hunger relief agencies with fresh produce, frozen meat, grocery staples, and other household necessities. Food shelves distribute free food to individuals and families in their local communities.

The Food Group believes in food equity. They believe in culturally specific foods. They believe in meeting people where they are at. And most of all, they believe in dignity.

At Big River Farms, we believe everyone who wants to start a sustainable farm should have access to education, land, infrastructure, markets, resources, and connections to meet their goals.
